Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of the Smart City Signals traffic-signal monitoring platform, including the web portal at user.smartcitysignals.com and the email and text message (SMS) alerts it sends (together, the "Service"), provided by Smart City Signals ("Smart City Signals", "we", "us"). By signing in to the Service or opting in to its alerts, you agree to these Terms.
The Service is provided to public agencies under a written contract. If these Terms conflict with your agency's contract with Smart City Signals, the contract controls.
Accounts
- Accounts are created by Smart City Signals or by your agency's administrator, only for the agency's staff and authorized contractors.
- Keep your password private and do not share your account. Tell us or your administrator straight away if you think someone else has used it.
- Your agency can change or close your account at any time.
Acceptable use
Use the Service only for your agency's work. Do not try to reach data or equipment you are not authorized for, interfere with the Service, or use it to send commands to field equipment unless your agency has authorized you to.
SMS Terms
- Program: Smart City Signals Alerts. These are operational alerts about the traffic signals and roadside equipment you monitor, such as cabinet faults, battery backup events, signals in flash and stuck detectors. We do not send marketing messages.
- How you opt in: you give your mobile number and agree to receive SMS alerts when your Smart City Signals account is set up or updated. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase.
- Message frequency varies with the number of equipment events on the signals you monitor.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- To stop: reply STOP to any message. You will get one message confirming that you are unsubscribed, and no more after that. To start again, reply START or ask your agency administrator.
- For help: reply HELP, or email info@smartcitysignals.com.
- Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- How we handle your phone number is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Alerts are not a safety system
Email and SMS alerts depend on field devices, communication networks and mobile carriers, so they can be delayed, duplicated or missed. They help your agency maintain its equipment. They do not replace your agency's own inspection, maintenance or emergency procedures. Do not rely on the Service as the only way to find out about a signal failure, and call emergency services when public safety is at risk.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available, but it may sometimes be interrupted for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We may change or improve features of the Service.
Data
Equipment data collected from your agency's signals belongs to your agency, as set out in its contract. Personal information is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, and except as your agency's contract says otherwise, the Service is provided "as is", and Smart City Signals is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Service or from alerts that are delayed or not delivered.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
